Issue November/December 2025/6

Dear PPCHEM readers:

With this issue, PPCHEM® is appearing in print for the final time. For someone like me, who grew up in an analog world, closing the print chapter of a journal with such a long and meaningful history is a profound moment. Since the first issue in July 1999, the yellow cover has stood for reliability, technical depth, and a commitment to advancing water and steam chemistry across industries.

This legacy is the result of many dedicated individuals. I would like to acknowledge my predecessor and the founder of the journal, Prof. A. Bursik, whose leadership shaped the journal's direction for many years, as well as the experts, authors, reviewers, and advisory board members whose contributions ensured the quality and relevance of every issue. The composition of our editorial team has been subject to change over time, but one constant has remained: our esteemed copy editor, K. Brock, who has been with us since the journal's inception and whose meticulous work has been instrumental in ensuring the consistency and credibility of our publications. For this long-standing commitment, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and extend my special thanks to her.

Since its founding, the journal has been a platform, a meeting point, and a voice for power plant chemists around the world. The printed editions – carefully curated and proudly sent out every two months – have been part of our shared professional lives for over two decades. But times are changing. As our readers increasingly turn to digital formats, we are evolving too. The choice to discontinue the print edition wasn't easy – but it is the right one for the future of PPCHEM®.

Throughout its print era, PPCHEM® has supported a global community tackling the complex challenges of water treatment and cycle chemistry – not only in power generation, but in all industrial processes where water or steam is used. Helping operators improve reliability, availability, economic performance, and operational and environmental safety has always been our guiding mission.

Our commitment to delivering high-quality, relevant, and practical content remains unchanged. We are simply shifting the format to meet modern needs.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this remarkable print journey.

Best regards,

Tapio Werder
