December 2017 - Editorial

Dear PowerPlant Chemistry readers:

For the sixth and last time in this year the production of our journal is coming to an end. While writing these comments, we are in the final stages of editing the articles and putting together the final shape of this issue. The end of the year 2017 is approaching fast – therefore I would like to use my space here for a short review of the past year, but also for an outlook for the new year.

First, I would like to thank all the people involved in the production of the journal in the past year for their support. Publishing a journal involves a lot effort from people working in the background – the work of our team in the editorial office and the support and advice of all of the members of the international advisory board are key to the success of our journal.

I would also like to thank all the people who support – in one way or another – our journal from the outside. It is only due to the commitment of all the authors, the advertisers, and the readers that six times a year we are able to deliver a new issue filled with theoretical papers and papers dealing with practical operating experience from all around the world.

Looking toward the next year I would like to remind you of the never-ending quest for appropriate papers to publish in our journal. Are you a person working in power plant chemistry, in this exciting technical and scientific area? I would like to encourage you to submit a paper for publication in our journal in the upcoming year. We are always looking for interesting papers. Share your experience with your colleagues from other plants. You can be certain that the editorial staff will help you to improve your contribution and to present an excellent paper to our international readership. I am already looking forward to your letter or e-mail announcing a future contribution to our journal.

Another thing to be mentioned here is the conferences, seminars, and other events our journal is involved with. I would like to remind you that only by continuing exchange with colleagues and experts in the field is it possible to keep up-to-date with the ongoing developments in power plant chemistry. If you haven't participated in these events in the past, I greatly encourage you to do so in the upcoming year. The most important events in 2018 are listed in our events calendar.

As we can't have our eyes and ears everywhere, it is possible that we might overlook one event or another; if you think that there is an important event missing from our events calendar, please let us know!

Finally, I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year!
